Identification of Potential - Cognitive Capability Assessment

With the new rules of the game, managers need to identify the people who have the capability and potential to lead a business through its future challenges.

A person’s capability will grow over time and different people will achieve different levels of capability within their lifetime. Not every person has the potential to perform effectively in a senior executive position.

Identifying the potential of an employee involves a tool called Modified Career Path Appreciation (MCPA™) .  This tool assesses the current and future potential of a person to make effective decisions in times of increased uncertainty and complexity.  It reveals their potential and when they will have the cognitive capability to perform effectively in more senior roles.

The MCPA™ process maps out their likely growth in capability over time, future development needs, and desired work roles to match their underlying growth in capability as they transition from team leader, to manager, senior manager, and executive levels of work.   MCPA™ also measures what we term 'Flow' - that is to say how well their capabilities match their current responsibilities in the company or organisation.

The MCPA™ tool has been used in organisations such as Westpac, Telstra, BHP Billiton, Orica and Intrepid Travel.

The MCPA tool has been developed by BIOSS – Brunel Institute of Social Studies and distributed by EDAC- Executive Development Assessment Centre.  Further information can be found at www.bioss.com and www.edacen.com
